MD Reader

Markdown that stays on your machine.

MD Reader opens your Markdown folder the way a text editor does — from local disk, with no upload step and no account. Cloud storage, sync and AI are a subscription you can add later, or never.

What it does

Opens a folder, not a library

Point it at a directory of .md files. No import, no proprietary vault format, no copy of your notes in someone's database.

Renders the hard parts

Mermaid diagrams, KaTeX maths, syntax-highlighted code, charts and tables — rendered locally, including offline.

Runs code in the document

Fenced blocks execute in a sandboxed frame, so a runnable note stays a note rather than becoming a project.

Reads scanned pages

OCR runs on your own hardware. An image of a page becomes text without it leaving the machine.

Works with no account

Everything above is the free application. Signing in is only how you reach the paid extras below.

Bring your own AI key

Use an Anthropic, OpenAI or Gemini key of your own and pay your provider directly. We never see the traffic.

Pricing

The application is free. A subscription adds cloud storage, sync across your devices, and AI features.

You do not need any of this to read Markdown. Opening local files, rendering, search, code execution, OCR and export are the free application on every platform, with no account and no time limit.

Prices are in Indian rupees and include applicable taxes. Payments on this site are processed by Razorpay. Subscriptions bought inside the Android or iOS app are billed by Google Play or Apple instead, and are managed in that store's own subscription settings.

Questions

Where are my files?

Where you left them. The app reads the folder you choose; it does not copy your notes anywhere unless you turn on cloud storage.

Is there a web version?

No. MD Reader is a desktop and mobile application. This site sells and distributes it — it does not run it.

Can I cancel?

Yes. A subscription bought here is a fixed term that simply ends; there is no auto-renewal to cancel and no charge after it lapses.

I bought it in the app.

Then it is managed by Google Play or Apple. Sign in with the same account here and the subscription shows up either way.
